Phone number improvements, custom field live preview, and UX refinements

This release brings a smarter phone number experience across the platform, a live interactive preview when configuring custom fields, and a range of smaller improvements and fixes to custom field management.

Features

  • Smart phone number input: Phone fields now automatically detect the country as you type, storing numbers in a consistent international format — making phone numbers reliable for display, links, and communication across staff, client, and admin user profiles as well as custom phone fields.
  • Live preview for custom field definitions: When creating or editing a custom field, a live preview now appears beside the form showing exactly how the field will look and behave in a real record, so you can type a value, trigger validation, and fill in a sample before saving.
  • Suggested countries in pickers: The country picker for custom fields now shows a short list of your most recently used countries at the top, and the phone country picker works the same way, making it faster to select common values.
  • Clearer phone mode label: The automatic country-detection phone input mode is now labelled "Auto-detect country", which more clearly describes what it does.
  • Location count on staff list: The "Public page visibility" column in the staff list now shows a text count alongside the coloured location dots, so the information is clear without relying on colour alone.
  • New fields appended last: A newly created custom field or field set is now consistently placed at the bottom of the existing list, rather than at a seemingly random position.

Fixes

  • Activity log for track-only fields: Custom fields configured to track only whether a value was added or removed now correctly show "Added" or "Removed" in the activity log, instead of displaying a blank placeholder.
  • Custom field preview layout: The live preview panel now correctly reflects the actual width of the field as it appears in a real form, including fields that span the full row.
  • Preview rail on wide screens: The live preview now appears beside the form on screens from 1680 pixels wide, making it accessible on common large laptop displays where it previously did not appear.
  • Phone configuration display: A custom phone field with no explicitly set input mode no longer shows "No configuration" in the field list — it now correctly displays the effective mode.
  • New field order: Creating a custom field or field set no longer places it at a seemingly random position; new items are consistently appended at the end.
  • Multilingual preview reset: Switching the multilingual setting on a custom field definition now correctly resets the preview, preventing stale values from appearing.

Security and reliability

  • Stronger phone number validation: Phone numbers are now checked against international numbering plans, so only real, assignable numbers are accepted, making stored phone data more reliable across the platform.
  • Personal preferences stored per user on the server: Recently used countries and phone country preferences are stored per user on the server, keeping them consistent across devices without relying on the browser.
